Questions and Answers

Questions and Answers:

circleQuestion: I am not a well-trained cyclist: can I still ride?

Yes, of course!

Our bike tours are organized for everyone.

We are helping you visit Mongolia, not do a race!

Leave the racing to our professional team riders!

At all time, just enjoy yourself and cycle to your heart’s content.

Every rider can choose how much and how far he or she rides every day.

We have the support vehicles at the back so you can get off and climb into the 4x4 at any time.

You can jump back on the bike, whenever you feel like it too!

Therefore, you can ride more or less distance every day, according to your own wishes.

circle Question: I am not a very good biker: will there be dangerous parts?

No, the danger is minimal and we avoid technical descents.

Safety is paramount so we will do our best to reduce the level of difficulty when possible.

We have a first-aid kit on board, but we recommend safe riding by all riders.

circleQuestions:I am a vegetarian: What can I eat in Mongolia?

For local Mongolians vegetarianism is not well-known. People survive on rice and goat/horse meat as their daily diet.

We will buy and supplement our diet with foods purchased in Ulan Baatar.

Along the way, few if any, local shops will stock anything more than durable goods like candy, water, alcohol or rice.

It’s important therefore, that you inform us in time if you have special dietary restrictions.

Along the way, we will fish for our own food (!) so prepare yourself for some massive Mongolian trouts fresh out of the mountain lakes, (all you can eat)!

circle Question: I am a non-drinker: how do I deal with Mongolian Vodka toasts?

Mongolians are very hospitable people and will require an informal meet&greet when you meet them.

This means drinking and eating together.

When offered vodka, take the glas/bowl with your RIGHT hand only and sip it gently (or drink a big gulp if you wish).

The key thing to remember is to:

arrow Accept the drink

arrow Pretend to sip it or sip lightly to “save face”

arrow Hand it back and say thank you.

So, no, you are not required to drink alcohol, but it is important to accept the offer and go through the ritual pro forma.
